Forget-a-bout-it

21413999999The economy has shown no mercy to celebrities when it has come to the mortgage and housing crisis so why would one spare the daughter of the late “Dapper Don, John Gotti” , the reputed mob boss of the Gambino crime family.

Victoria Gotti daughter of the late crime boss and reality TV star of “Growing up Gotti” is in Foreclosure. The home that was the backdrop of the A&E reality TV series located in Old Westbury, Long Island is presently listed for sale for $3 million. That is down from a previous listed price of $4 million. The home flaunts six bedrooms and seven baths.

There has not been a mortgage payment made to her lender JP Morgan Chase in nearly two years according to court papers. There is a mortgage in the original amount of $865,000 and the present balance is somewhere around $675,000. The home sits on a sprawling six acres.

A vacant home presently in foreclosure fell victim to a runaway boulder. The boulder reportedly 10 feet or so wide broke loose and plowed through the homes first floor before falling through the dining room ceiling and coming to rest in the garage. I wonder for insurance purposes this is considered a natural disaster? Here is the article:  Runaway Boulder

An old farm house was listed for sale in Leesburg Virginia. The price in the add is a dollar. No it was not a typo they really were selling it for a dollar. Yup just a buck. For two bucks you can get a house and something off the dollar menu from McDonalds.

There is a catch though. The land is not included. The article was in The Washington Post here is a link to the original article

I have shared with the classroom homes made from shipping containers, a home carved out of a cave and now the latest. A desert home made from junk. It is amazing what the mind can conjure up. The article was in the New York Times. Here is a link to the article. Desert Home Made From Junk

More Strange Home News

Looking for some more bizarre real estate news from LoanClassroom here it is: SHIPPING CONTAINER HOMES. I found this on Yahoo. Although it is pretty cool especially the beach home in Cali, I am thinking financing would be a no-go. Call me crazy.

Some more weird news

Different strokes for different folks. Ever think of living in a cave? No for real, here is a link to video clip of a family who built a home in a cave. Some interesting viewing for the classroom.

Weird and Interesting news

By John Herrman, 7:15 AM on Mon Jan 19 2009

  • Swiss company The Wall AG has a perfect solution for third-world shanty towns, semi-permanent refugee camps and approximately 7.2% of adult Americans: paper houses!

This isn’t mere paper craft—the Universal World House is a $5,000, 390 square foot modular home, outfitted with plumbing and boarding facilities to support up to eight (eight!) residents each. The secret of its construction is its “paper” shell; the resin-soaked cellulose, made from recycled paper, is shaped into honeycomb walls, which provide structural integrity and insulation to the houses.

Aside from having a convertible closed/open-air kitchen with table and benches.
